ANDAR BAHAR is a very popular traditional Indian poker game with a simple and fast pace.

ANDAR BAHAR Gameplay

1. Basic Composition
A deck of 52 poker cards with the Joker removed.

Two betting areas:

Andar (left)

Bahar (right)

A “Joker Card” is used as a comparison target.

2. Game Process

1️⃣ Deal the Joker

The dealer turns over the first card from the shuffled deck, called the “Joker”, and places it in the center of the table.

For example: Q♦ (Q of Hearts)

2️⃣ Player Bet
The player bets and predicts that the card with the same “points” as the Joker will appear first:

👉 Andar (left)

👉 Bahar (right)

3 Dealing Begins
The dealer deals cards alternately from the deck and puts them in the Andar and Bahar areas in turn.

Dealing order rules:

Most versions stipulate:

If the middle card is black (♠️ or ♣️), start dealing from Andar;

If it is red (♥️ or ♦️), start dealing from Bahar.

4 Determine the winner
When a side first appears with a card with the same “points” as the middle card (such as both are Q, regardless of suit), that side is the winner.

The player who bets on that side wins the chips; the loser loses the bet

3. Odds setting (common)
Betting position Common odds Description
Andar 0.9:1 starts dealing first, the odds are slightly lower
Bahar 2:1 starts dealing later, the odds are slightly higher

Note: There may be differences between different platforms or casinos.

4. Additional gameplay (side bets) [optional] Some platforms offer the following side bet gameplay:

Guess how many cards were dealt before the Joker paired (such as 1–5, 6–10, 11–15…)

Guess if the Joker appears in an odd/even position

Whether the Joker appears in the first N cards

Guess exactly which card the Joker appears in

Higher odds when the Joker appears in the same suit

5. Example demonstration
Middle card: 7♦

Dealing order: Bahar (because the middle card is red)

First card → Bahar: 6♣ (does not match)

Second card → Andar: K♠ (does not match)

Third card → Bahar: 7♠ ✅ (match!)

✅ Result: Bahar wins.

The player who bets on Bahar wins the bet.
